Macchiato An easy way to
upload lomographs
Macintosh users: There was a bug in the original release that prevented you from uploading your pictures. I've since made an attempt to fix it, but don't have an reliable way to test it since I don't have a Mac. If you can, I'd really appreciate it if you can let me know if it works for you. Please use the "Albums" menu for any right-click functions instead of the context menu.
Tired of the way the Lomographic Society makes you upload your pictures
to your Lomohome? 5 pictures at a time? No, thanks.
Now there's a way to upload all of them at the same time with Macchiato!
Macchiato lets you drag-and-drop your pictures into its window, sort
them out into different ablums and preview your pictures before they
are uploaded. It also generates a Profile Wall with your pictures
so you can see how they will look on your Lomohome before you upload
them. Instead of spending your time uploading 5 pictures at a
time, you can now do it all at once and have them all sorted the way
you want.
How much does Macchiato cost? It's absolutely
free-of-charge! So download
it now and start posting those pictures! You don't even have
to install it, just double-click on it after downloading and you're all
set to go!
What do I need to use Macchiato?
Macchiato was written in Java so that it can used on Windows,
Macintosh, Solaris and Linux. If you don't already have a Java
Runtime Environment installed, you can download one from Sun Microsystems.
I wrote Macchiato with the J2SE v1.4.2_04 SDK, but I suspect anything
from v1.4.0 will work. Unfortunately, v1.3.x will not work.
How do you use it?
Log in using your Lomohome username and password. your password
is not saved anywhere, so you don't have to worry about you Lomohome
being hacked.
After logging in, the left portion of the window will show all the
albums you have in your Lomohome. You can drag-and-drop picture
into these existing albums, or create new ones to upload picture
to. Note that pictures already in your Lomohome will not show up
in this window.
You can preview pictures by clicking on it, or if you want to see a
preview of a Profile Wall, right-click on the album and select Show As
Profile Wall. Note that only the first 17 pictures will be part
of the Profile Wall.
When you're ready to upload your albums, just right-click on the
top-most node and select Upload All Albums, sit back and wait for the
upload to complete Note that empty ablums will not be uploaded,
and nothing already in your Lomohome will be deleted or overwritten.

Known problem
There's one known problem that I have yet to fix with this version of
the software. If you try to preview a Profile Wall of big
pictures, the software will hang and look like it's still working but
when in fact it's not. It should not affect how you use it though
since the Lomographic Society only allows pictures of maximum size
768x512 pixels.
